Samhain in a Week: A History of Samhain

Samhain in a Week

Welcome to TCC’s [Insert Pagan Holiday] in a Week series! It’s been a while since I’ve done this, so I kind of feel like I’m throwing y’all into it, but hey, that’s one way to get a party going, isn’t it! Samhain is in less than a week, and I’ve got much to share with you before the Witches’ New Year: Lots of folklore, history, correspondences, and ritual. Since it’s also … [Read more...]

Pagan Blog Prompts: Your Tools

Today's post is all about tools! I thought this would be a short entry considering how few tools I actually own, but you know me -- always rather verbose. ;) Prompt: Your Tools What tools do you use, if any? Tarot or other divination tools? Athame, chalice, candles, wand, etc? Why have you chosen to use these tools? How do you prepare and maintain them? Where/how do you store … [Read more...]

My Pagan Library

The weather is cool and crisp, with a slight hint of humidity that holds the chill in the air. When this weather comes around, I can't help but anticipate days of hot drinks, warm blankets, soft couch cushions, and comforting books as snow swirls around our house. In preparation, I picked up a few books today, then realized I had a decent-sized Pagan library. Then I figured I'd share some with … [Read more...]

Sacred Spaces

This week has been an absolute whirlwind, and in an effort to both slow it down and create a space that is soothing and spiritual, I've been rearranging our third bedroom as an "altar room." It's not even close to finished as I have quite a few things to move out and some decorating to do, but by the time it's done, I'm hoping to use it as a place where I can do private ritual and yoga … [Read more...]

Lughnasadh is on Monday… and time has run away from me.

time change

Lughnasadh is next Monday, apparently. 1 August, as it is every year. It's not like I don't know this, but for some reason, this turn of the wheel feels as though it sneaked up on me... where did the rest of the time go, where we're suddenly focused on the harvest, the year waning down to Samhain? I wanted to have a full week of posts for Lughnasadh, but, while I'll have quite a few days with … [Read more...]

Pagan Apathy (and what we can do to stop it)

A great friend of mine and awesome Pagan chica, Kallan, recently posted about Pagan apathy. It is a very inspiring, insightful post about the Pagan community and its almost lackadaisical attitude towards very public disdain for that very community. Part of me became a bit angry while reading it. Not at Kallan, of course, but at the idea that Pagans could be apathetic at all. We're a faith that … [Read more...]

Pagan Blog Prompts: Ethical Eating

Oh, how appropriate today's Pagan blog prompt is! Despite that, it was still difficult to answer: Prompt: Ethical Eating How does your faith guide you in how you buy and eat food? Are you vegan (or vegetarian) because of the ethics your faith imposes? Or have you chosen to be that way for other reasons? Do your beliefs even have anything to do with how you eat? Maybe I should start at … [Read more...]

A Lesson in Tolerance… and how each of us can make a difference

There was a little contemplation yesterday about freedom of choice in our religion, in our diets, and in who we are. While we may be free to actually accomplish these things for personal satisfaction, the fact of the matter is that some people just plain won't like it, whether or not it affects them in any way. I can't even begin the number of ways I have personally been talked down to for being … [Read more...]

Happy Independence Day from TCC!

For those of you living in the United States (including myself), today marks the day our country attained its freedom from the Kingdom of Great Britain, and the day the Declaration of Independence was signed. So happy Fourth of July! We are fortunate here in the US to have so many guaranteed freedoms that people in many other countries could only dream of. Of course, we have a long way to go, … [Read more...]

Theological Thursday: Pagan goodies and tchotchkes

I've been following Pagan Blog Prompts for a while, and though I just finished a whole series on a Sabbat, I figured... why not one more Pagan-related post this week. Ooh, and it's Theological Thursday, yay! This one is inspired by the blog mentioned above, wherein they ask a question regarding shopping for your magickal tools and other tchotchkes (I love that word, it makes you think of little … [Read more...]
